FORS ACCREDITATION SUPPORT SERVICES
FAQ's
❓ What is FORS accreditation and why is it important?
FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) is a voluntary, nationally recognised accreditation that showcases excellence in fleet safety, environmental performance, and operational efficiency. While it’s optional, the scheme is increasingly required in construction, logistics, and public-sector contracts—especially in London—where clients often demand accreditation at the Bronze, Silver, or Gold level .
Benefits include:
-
Improved road safety and reduced incident rates
-
Enhanced fuel efficiency and lower emissions
-
Stronger reputation and competitive advantage in contract tenders
✅ What support do you provide to help me achieve FORS accreditation?
JS Transport Solutions offers comprehensive support across all stages:
-
Compliance gap analysis – We evaluate your current operations, identify what’s missing for the chosen FORS level .
-
Policy & procedure development – Drafting documentation for driver training, vehicle maintenance, fuel efficiency, and environmental management .
-
Safety system implementation – Integrating necessary equipment (e.g. mirrors, in‑cab alerts, cameras) and processes to meet Silver/Gold requirements .
-
Audit preparation – On-site or remote readiness checks before FORS inspections .
-
Driver training – FORS-aligned modules delivered via JAUPT-approved CPC courses .
-
Ongoing compliance & renewing – Continuous monitoring and annual renewal support
🏅 What are the different accreditation levels and their requirements?
There are three tiers—and each builds on the last:
-
Bronze – Entry-level. Basic safety checks, record-keeping, training, and compliance .
-
Silver – Adds mandatory safety equipment (e.g., reversing cameras, side sensors, blind‑spot monitoring, audible warnings) plus compliance with TfL’s Work-Related Road Risk and CLOCS .
-
Gold – Emphasises sustainability, proactive data analysis, supply-chain leadership, advanced training management .
📍 Can I choose which vehicles or operating centres to include?
Yes—you decide which operating centre(s) to include in your accreditation. However, every vehicle at a chosen site (including HGVs, vans, PLVs, cars with commercial use, etc.) must be declared and comply .
💷 How much does FORS accreditation cost?
FORS expenses include two main fees:
-
Annual subscription (based on fleet size)
-
Audit fee (based on number of operating centres)
(Exact figures vary—JS Transport will outline your investment as part of an initial consultation.)
🔁 How often does accreditation need renewing?
FORS Bronze, Silver, and Gold all require annual renewal. You must maintain compliance each year, particularly when upgrading tiers (e.g. Bronze → Silver → Gold) .
